What Shapes the Cost of Working With Us
Advice is not one product with one price. The cost depends on how much work your situation calls for and how often we stay involved. We go over the structure in plain terms during your introductory meeting, before you agree to anything.
We explain how we are paid and what each service includes before you decide. You will know the structure in advance, with no charges added later that were not discussed.
- One-time plan or ongoing work
- A single financial plan is a defined project. Ongoing investment management and regular reviews involve continuing work throughout the year, and that is reflected in how the service is priced.
- Complexity of your finances
- A salary and two retirement accounts is a different job from business ownership, equity compensation, rental property or accounts spread across several firms. More moving parts mean more analysis.
- Assets under our care
- For investment management, the size and number of the portfolios we look after affects the cost.
- Tax and estate coordination
- Working alongside your CPA on tax management, or with your estate attorney on legacy planning, adds time for review and back-and-forth. Many clients find that coordination is where the plan earns its keep.
- Insurance review
- Life insurance consulting may mean comparing existing policies, reading the fine print on older contracts and modeling how coverage fits the rest of the plan.
How We Help You Grow, Protect and Pass On Wealth
Our work covers the full picture: wealth management, financial advising, financial planning and investment management for the money you are building now. Retirement planning and tax management shape how that money is drawn down and kept. Legacy planning and life insurance consulting look after the family that comes next. Most clients start with one need and find the pieces fit better once they sit in a single plan.

Wealth Management
Ongoing management that ties your portfolio, taxes, retirement accounts and estate wishes into one plan, reviewed with you on a regular schedule.

Financial Planning
A written financial plan that ties your goals to real numbers and explains the account rules, tax limits and deadlines that shape each decision.
Investment Management
Portfolio management built on a written investment policy, disciplined rebalancing and plain explanations of every fee, rule and disclosure.
Retirement Planning
Social Security timing, withdrawal order, rollovers and required distributions, organized into one written retirement income plan you can follow.
Legacy Planning
We line up beneficiaries, account titles and gifting so your wealth passes to the people you choose, under rules we explain plainly.
Tax Management
We plan the timing of sales, withdrawals and gifts so more of your return stays with you, and we show you the rule behind each move.
Life Insurance Consulting
A careful review of the coverage you own or are considering, with the policy rules, costs and tax treatment explained before you sign anything.
Why Clients Choose to Work With Us
Financial decisions come with rules that most people meet only once or twice. We would rather explain them clearly at the start than leave you to find them in a tax bill.

Series 7, Series 66 and SIE licensed
Our advisor holds all three credentials. In plain terms, the SIE covers the foundations of securities markets and regulation, the Series 7 covers a broad range of securities, and the Series 66 covers state securities law and the rules around giving investment advice. We are happy to walk you through what each one means for the work we do with you.
- 02
The rules behind each recommendation
When we suggest a Roth conversion, a beneficiary change or a new account type, we tell you which rule makes it worth doing. Contribution limits, withdrawal ages, distribution requirements and the tax treatment of each account are spelled out so you can follow the reasoning yourself.
- 03
A written plan you can actually read
Your financial plan arrives on paper, in clear sections, with every assumption listed. If a number changes later, you can see which part of the plan it touches.
- 04
How we are paid, explained first
Before you commit to anything, we explain how we are compensated for each type of service. You should never have to wonder why a recommendation was made.
- 05
No rush to move everything
Existing accounts can stay where they are while we review them. Some changes make sense right away. Others, like moving an old 401(k) or selling a concentrated position, are better timed with taxes in mind.
How Working Together Unfolds
The first steps are about listening and gathering the facts. Recommendations come after we understand your goals, never before.
- 1
An introductory meeting
It starts with a phone call. We set a time to talk at our office or by phone or video, learn what prompted you to reach out, and explain how we work and how we are paid.
- 2
Gathering the documents
We ask for recent statements, tax returns, insurance policies and any existing estate documents. This shows us what you own, how it is titled and who is named as beneficiary.
- 3
Your written financial plan
We lay out where you stand, where you want to be and the steps between. Each recommendation notes the rule or tax consideration behind it, so nothing reads like a black box.
- 4
Putting it in place
We handle the account work we are responsible for and coordinate with your CPA or attorney on the rest. Changes are made in an order that respects tax timing.
- 5
Regular reviews
Life changes, and so do tax laws and contribution limits. We meet on a schedule that suits you to adjust the plan as your family, career and retirement date shift.

Questions Clients Ask Before Getting Started
Something not covered here? (732) 589-5794
What happens at the introductory meeting?
We talk about what prompted you to call, your goals and the accounts you have now. We explain the services we offer and how we are paid for each. You leave with a clear sense of whether working together makes sense, and there is no obligation to go further.
What do the Series 7, Series 66 and SIE licenses mean?
They are securities industry licenses earned by passing regulated exams. The SIE covers market and regulatory basics, the Series 7 covers a broad range of securities, and the Series 66 covers state securities law and investment advice. We are glad to explain how they relate to the work we would do for you.
How are you paid?
It depends on the service. A one-time financial plan is structured differently from ongoing investment management. We explain the arrangement for your situation at the start, before you commit to anything.
Will I have to move all my accounts to you?
No. We often review existing accounts first and leave some where they are. When moving money does make sense, such as rolling over an old employer plan, we look at the tax rules and timing before anything changes.
Can you work with my CPA and estate attorney?
Yes, and we encourage it. Tax management and legacy planning work best when your advisor, accountant and attorney are looking at the same numbers. With your permission, we share what they need and keep everyone aligned.
Do we need to meet in person?
Not unless you want to. Many clients meet at our office, while others work with us entirely by phone and video. The quality of the plan is the same either way.
What should I have ready before we meet?
Recent account statements, your last tax return and any insurance policies are a good start. If you have a will or trust, bring that too. Do not worry if something is missing; we can gather the rest together.

A Quiet, Careful Practice
Financial Advisor Rumson works with clients who want a steady hand and a clear explanation. We meet at our office, or by phone and video when that suits you better, and we keep the conversation focused on your goals rather than on products.
Good advice is mostly careful work done well: reading the beneficiary form, checking the cost basis, confirming the account is titled the way the estate plan assumes. Those details rarely make headlines, but they decide how much of your wealth reaches the people you intend it for.
We would rather you understand your plan than simply trust it. If something in it is unclear, we keep explaining until it is not.
